Saraswati Speaks: Creative Rituals to Guide You Home

Drawing on the time-honored tools of meditation and expressive art therapy, these weekly gatherings are designed to connect you to the language of your psyche and help you access your innermost wisdom.

This six-week, online series is named after the goddess Saraswati, who brings into form that which has not yet been made manifest: a thought, an image, a dream, a series of musical notes, a passion. She is said to invoke a flow of fertile energy that enables us to become open vessels for our creative life force, thereby illuminating our unseen and undigested emotions and sparking insight on the path ahead.

“The imaginal realm, where images are language, is where we reweave ourselves.”

Each session begins with an introduction to a form of the divine feminine: an archetype or deity, a landscape or constellation. You’ll then turn your focus inward via a simple guided meditation and, using a potent blend of journaling, artwork, and movement, receive what is asking to emerge from deep within your unconscious. In acknowledgement of the deeply personal nature of this work, participants are welcome to share as much or as little as they wish.

This is your safe, sacred, and compassionate opportunity to:

  • Drop into your stream of consciousness,

  • Find greater access to your creative flow,

  • Befriend unmet aspects or processes,

  • Identify and express hidden needs,

  • Express and integrate undigested emotions, and

  • Release what no longer serves you.

No artistic experience necessary. Please bring a journal and your favorite art materials – colored pencils, pastels, charcoal, paint, etc. Zoom link upon registration.

Revisioning Myths & Fairy Tales and Reclaiming the Feminine Experience

Replete with symbols and archetypes, myths and fairy tales are maps to both the collective psyche and your soul’s evolution. To revision these stories is nothing less than an initiatory process.

During this five-week, online offering, you will explore myths and fairy tales from a uniquely personal perspective—yours. Via discussion and simple writing prompts, you’ll move beyond surface narratives to discover:

  • Which characters or objects attract you and what they mean in your present life

  • What themes mirror your lived experiences and the wisdom they hold for you

  • Where you’ve lost your power and opportunities to reclaim it

  • How embodying these classic tales can help you integrate your unmet archetypes and life’s many deaths and rebirths

Clarissa Pinkola Estés says, historias que son medicina: stories are medicine. Simply hearing a story enables you to experience it as if you are the heroine (or the wolf or the shapeshifter or the tree or the dragon). Your psyche is imprinted with ancient knowing just by listening.

Anthropologists call this sympathetic magic, the ability of the mind to step away from its ego and merge with another reality in order to gain a new way of understanding. In indigenous paths, this is the use of stories to create nonordinary states of consciousness from which insights are brought back to consensual reality.

During this course, you’ll enter forests and oceans, underground realms, and far-flung cultures. No matter how fantastical, each story represents a journey into your psyche and holds an encoded transmission of endurance and empowerment, healing and growth.

I’m thrilled to be sharing this course in winter, traditionally the season of gathering around the hearth and sharing stories. I hope you will consider joining me for what is sure to be a juicy and transformational ride.

No writing experience required. This is for anyone interested in archetypes, creative writing, self-discovery, deep listening, or radical compassion. All genders, orientations, ages, and abilities are welcome.
